NGRAIN to Improve First-Time-Right Performance and Reduce Skill Fade for UK Ministry of Defence

Engine and Weapons Training Solutions to Be Deployed and Managed by NGRAIN Partner PulseLearning

COLOGNE, GERMANY (ITEC)--(Marketwire - May 10, 2011) -NGRAIN(R), a leading provider of interactive 3D equipment simulation solutions that maximize the effectiveness of training programs and maintenance support systems, today announced that the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence has chosen the NGRAIN CAT(R) 3126 Engine and M2 .50 Caliber Machine Gun Virtual Task Trainer(TM) (VTT(TM)) solutions to support training at the British Army's engineering schools. The configuration and deployment of the VTTs will be led by channel partner PulseLearning.

Designed to help reduce the reliance on physical equipment in the classroom which is costly to acquire and maintain, learning, the VTT solutions will help the British Army advance learning by improving student performance and reducing skill fade. The M2 .50 Caliber Machine Gun and CAT 3126 Engine VTT solutions will be used at the schoolhouse for new students entering the Royal School of Military Engineering. The solutions will also be used by more experienced engineers at the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers to review infrequently performance tasks and procedures. Used in an instructor-led environment as well as for individual learning, the VTT solutions provide training and support for parts familiarization and operator procedures. PulseLearning will make key components of the VTTs available on the mobile Army Application Centre.

"NGRAIN technology gives us a way to reduce overall program costs while improving our performance," said Major Rich Gill, Advanced Learning, UK Army. "We must be as efficient as possible while maintaining the highest standards of learning and performance in the field. NGRAIN Virtual Task Trainers give our engineers the knowledge and confidence they need to successfully operate and maintain equipment."

"The bottom line is that our Forces have to do more with less in these tough economic times," said Richard Marshall, UK Sales Director, PulseLearning. "The M2 .50 Cal machine gun and CAT 3126 engine are two common pieces of equipment that need to be routinely maintained for optimum operation in the field. By using interactive 3D solutions, we effectively eliminate the reliance on expensive hardware which often becomes damaged during training and requires repair or replacement."

Already in use by the United States and Canadian Forces, the NGRAIN VTT solutions provide personnel with the knowledge needed to safely and effectively operate and maintain the equipment. Based on NGRAIN's uniquely interactive 3D technology, VTT solutions incorporate instructional design best practices to deliver results-focused training that promote learning for diverse learning styles. Students can interact with the simulated equipment in real time, increasing their understanding of the internal components of the equipment and their operation. Once deployed, troops can review the VTT to refresh their knowledge and avoid skill fade.

"The British Army is taking advantage of NGRAIN solutions that have been developed for specific platforms," said Keith Pollock, Director, Business Development – Global Reseller Channel and Strategic Partnerships, NGRAIN. "By implementing software-based solutions, learning can occur anytime and anywhere there is a computer. This encourages students to refresh their knowledge as needed and spend the time they need to quickly become experts on the equipment the MoD uses."

About PulseLearning

PulseLearning is an award-winning, innovative, and highly agile organization. We have an absolute focus on creating value for our military and aerospace clients. PulseLearning provides a full range of learning solutions including 3D simulations, eLearning, mLearning, instructor-led training (ILT), face-to-face training (F2F), virtual ILT, and blended modalities.

PulseLearning's Instructional Systems Designers and Developers are recognized as being uniquely positioned to deliver flawless solutions to military-focused organizations. We understand that our end client is the soldier, peacekeeper, or warfighter on the ground in difficult and dangerous situations. Training must be exactly accurate, complete and clear.

Through careful Front End Analysis (FEA), we create specific terminal learning objectives (TLOs) and enabling learning objectives (ELOs). We ensure thorough detail, presented in a logical flow, to ensure learners will master all objectives. Equipment can't be put out of service to perform hands-on training. As an NGRAIN partner our solutions use NGRAIN 3D technology, producing a better than real life learning experience that enables learners to see inside of objects without destroying them. This safe training environment provides the learner with the opportunity to practice without risk of injury or equipment damage.

Our offerings are tailored to the requirements and processes of military and aerospace clients. Whether the project is to convert manuals to hands-on interactions or to create life-like scenario training. We provide in-service support training, maintenance training, and soft skills training that is agile and cost-effective. We engineer our training for quicker speed to competency, higher levels of on-the-job performance, and improved safety for prevention of injuries and deaths.
