NHS Trust, Avon and Wiltshire, Deploys AeroScout's Patient and Staff Safety Solution

Visibility Solution Tracks Real-Time Location of People to Increase Staff Efficiency and Safety

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 21, 2011) - AeroScout, the leading provider of Unified Asset Visibility for the healthcare industry, today announced that Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust in the UK has implemented AeroScout's RTLS (Real-Time Location System) to monitor staff members using its existing Wi-Fi network. Avon and Wiltshire has a Secure Forensic Mental Health Service building and uses the AeroScout Patient & Staff Safety solution to improve operational efficiency and staff safety.

Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) provides dedicated mental health services to adults in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Swindon. AeroScout partner, Stoneleigh Consultancy Ltd., deployed the solution and is one of the UK's leading IT consulting and wireless specialist firms, bringing more than 20 years of experience from across the UK. The implemented solution includes AeroScout's MobileView software and Wi-Fi Tags, and enables AWP to effectively monitor the location of staff members.

"As a provider of specialized mental health services, we are focused on giving the highest quality of care while at the same time ensuring a safe environment for both our staff and patients," said Steve Batson, Service Manager for West of England Forensic Mental Health Services at Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership. "Prior to using AeroScout, we relied on a whiteboard to manually track the whereabouts of our staff members, and we had little insight into their location. Since we started using AeroScout, we have improved the safety and confidence of our staff through the ability to identify exactly where they are at any one time."

Through AeroScout's healthcare RTLS solutions, AWP is streamlining the process for checking in and out of its facility. Upon arrival, each staff member checks in and receives a Wi-Fi RFID Tag that attaches to a set of physical keys. The tag is triggered as it passes through different hospital zones and transmits a message to AeroScout's MobileView software, which then displays the location of each person in real time.

"During times of duress, especially in evacuation situations, it is critical for organizations to be able to locate staff members quickly and effectively," said Alan Heath, Director at AeroScout. "AeroScout is excited to work with Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust to help ensure staff safety and improve operational efficiencies."
