NIH-Sponsored Multicenter Trial of Remote Patient Monitoring Reaches Enrollment Completion Milestone: Over 1650 Patients Enrolled

Study Evaluates Impact of Pharos Innovations' Tel-Assurance® Remote Patient Monitoring Platform in Reducing Hospitalizations for Participating Heart Failure Patients

NORTHFIELD, IL--(Marketwire - August 4, 2009) - The Yale University School of Medicine today announced the successful enrollment of 1,650+ heart failure (HF) patients as part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-sponsored, Tele-HF study. Yale University, the study coordinating center, selected Pharos Innovations as the exclusive telemedicine provider. The randomized, controlled trial is the only NIH-sponsored study to evaluate the impact of device-free remote patient monitoring (RPM) on improving chronic care management and reducing hospitalizations of HF patients.

In the study, 30+ diverse provider organizations from across the U.S. use Tel-Assurance, Pharos' unique, device-free RPM platform, for the daily telemonitoring of patients going home after a hospitalization for HF.

"This study is the largest of its kind, representing the gold standard for evaluating RPM effectiveness," said Randall E. Williams, MD, CEO of Pharos Innovations. "We congratulate everyone involved in the study for completing enrollment on schedule and exceeding enrollment goals, which is a testament to the interest level in and commitment to improving care through this unique approach."

Data is being compiled and the actual results of the trial are expected to be released in 2010. "Having scientific data on a new strategy for preventing avoidable hospital admissions and costs is especially significant and timely given the important healthcare reform policy discussions occurring on Capitol Hill," continued Williams.
