NitroSecurity Selects Sensory Networks Software to Increase Performance of Its NitroGuard IPS Product Line

Sensory Networks' New Software Pattern Matching Engine Enables NitroSecurity to Boost IPS Performance of Its NitroGuard IPS Product Line

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - April 20, 2009) - Sensory Networks, the leader in pattern matching and software acceleration technology, today announced that NitroSecurity, Inc., a leading provider of network and information security solutions, has selected its HyperScan™ software engine to boost the performance of NitroSecurity's Intrusion Prevention products. Under the agreement, Sensory's HyperScan pattern matching software engine will be integrated into the NitroGuard IPS product line to boost platform throughput performance.

HyperScan is a highly portable software library that is OS independent and easy to integrate. As well as rich regular expression support, the engine comprises several specialized content scanning engines. Each engine is unique and tailored for a specific task to deliver excellent content scanning performance for a wide variety of signatures, expressions and applications. Further specialization allows HyperScan to take advantage of specific features found on modern CPU architectures, such as Intel's vector extensions.

"We are pleased to be working with NitroSecurity to enhance the performance of their products by over 2X using our HyperScan software," said Sab Gosal, CEO for Sensory Networks. "Within just a few of months for evaluation, integration and benchmark testing, we have helped NitroSecurity raise the bar in the price/performance efficiency of their products. That's the power of using simple software solutions to accelerate platform performance."

NitroGuard is an Intrusion Prevention appliance that actively detects, analyzes, and protects the network from an array of security attacks, including viruses, worms, spyware, Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks, and other forms of malware, as well as unknown or zero-day attacks. Each NitroGuard IPS uses extensive "out of the box" anomaly rules, yet also allows enterprises to easily change or customize the response to various threats: use analytical capabilities to adjust anomaly rules to real network trends; easily edit rules or add new ones using standard SNORT syntax; or add NitroView ESM to provide post-event data correlation and processing, including contextual forensics and compliance reporting.

"Our NitroGuard IPS product line provides best in class performance and reliability," said Salo Fajer, Chief Strategy Officer for NitroSecurity. "Now with Sensory's HyperScan software delivering advanced acceleration in a software form-factor, we have taken another major leap forward in IPS appliance innovation."
