Nivis and Apprion Announce a Cooperative Effort to Launch the Next Generation of Industrial Wireless Gateways and Applications for the Process Automation Industry

Industrial Wireless Leaders Continue to Collaborate on Providing Facilities With Reliable, Secure, Safe Wireless Networks, Devices, Applications and Services

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA and ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - Mar 27, 2013) - Nivis, a global leader in the world of wireless industrial networks and communications, and Apprion, the leader in industrial wireless application networks and services, today announced their cooperative effort on the next generation of industrial wireless gateways and wireless applications for industrial processing facilities.

The companies are partnering to provide ISA100.11a functionality consistent with the ISA100.11a "Corrigendum" release. This release will be the first commercial product released on the market with concurrent support for the recently standardized ISA100.11a Gateway Common Interface "GCI".

"We rely heavily on our key partnerships to get Nivis technology into the market," says Nivis Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Trae Harrison, "especially partnerships with forward looking companies like Apprion. Nivis has been working closely with Apprion for 5 years now with a focus on pushing the next generation of Industrial Standards-Based products into the market."

With these new features, the partnership will deliver a one-of-a-kind industrial gateway to the market that supports all of the latest ISA100.11a standard updates, WirelessHART® and 802.11. Coupled with the fact that the integrated solution supports identification through multiple wireless radio options via Apprion IONizers and the ION System, facilities are equipped with a platform that can manage all of their wireless networks in one system.

Core to the partner integration is Apprion's IONizer -- an industrial wireless networking appliance that seamlessly integrates multi-vendor wireless network devices and wireless protocols to support numerous industrial wireless applications such as mobility, location, video, and communications and condition monitoring. Apprion's ION System in an open, industrial wireless platform that provides facilities one view of critical data, applications, and the industrial network in a single, customizable interface.

"Apprion and Nivis have worked closely together to develop a unique product offering that provides industrial customers a truly open, industrial solution to implement a reliable, secure wireless network with endless wireless applications for safety, security, compliance and operational efficiency," says Apprion Vice President of Marketing, Sarah Prinster.

Future plans for this partnership include:

  • Support for redundancy at the Backbone Router (ISA100.11a) or Access Point (WirelessHART) layer
  • Support for redundancy at the Gateway layer
  • Support for redundancy at the System Manager (ISA100.11a) or Network Manager (WirelessHART) layer
  • Wireless networks with scalability of 1000 units per System Manager (ISA100.11a) or Network Manager (WirelessHART)
