NMT II Live PFO Closure Creates Stir at Global Meeting of Cardiologists

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 10, 2015) - For the first time in the company's history, NMT II announces that a Live case was successfully performed on camera, and transmitted in real time to the Congress for CSI -- attended by over 1,100 of the world's top cardiologist and physicians. A video of the case can be seen at http://www.csi-congress.org/?go=605.

Using NobleStitch™ EL, Prof. Dr. Horst Sievert (Director and Founder CVC Frankfurt, Germany; Board of Directors CSI), and Dr. Michael Mullen (Consultant Cardiologist, The Heart Hospital, Co-Founder London Heart Specialists), with technical support from Prof. Anthony Nobles (CEO Nobles™ Medical Technology II, Inc. and HeartStitch®, Inc.) completed the procedure in less than 18 minutes. Successful closure of the PFO was achieved on the patient (who had previously suffered a stroke), utilizing the NobleStitch™ EL closure system.

During the live procedure, many physicians attending the Congress had the opportunity to interact with Dr. Sievert, Dr. Mullen, and Prof. Nobles in a question and answer session.

Dr. Sievert was initially asked about the complexity of the NobleStitch™ EL system, and the training time he required to confidently transition into the Cath lab. Dr. Sievert had trained with Dr. Mullen for only one previous case a week before the Conference, resulting in another successful closure case at the Cardiovascular Center in Frankfurt.

At various stages throughout the procedure, Dr. Mullen noted his experience in many previous cases and the level of development the NobleStitch™ EL has undergone since he performed the FIM more than 7 years ago.

Prof. Nobles was asked to summarize the advantages of the NobleStitch™ EL design. He stated that his development of the system was focused on eliminating the risks of device migration, device-induced thrombosis, erosion, nickel allergy, and late-onset perforation often associated with a metal implant. He wanted to create a solution that was both feasible, and elegant: the accurate placement of a remote suture.

About Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO)
A PFO is a tunnel that exists between the left and right atrium of the heart. The tunnel, which is part of the normal fetal anatomy, should close shortly after birth. In 27% of the population the tunnel never closes. This tunnel can then allow clots and other chemicals to pass from the right to the left side of the heart freely bypassing the filter of the lungs. These clots and chemicals can cause strokes and other conditions such as severe migraines.

About the NobleStitch™ EL System
NMT II's NobleStitch™ EL is a catheter based system that allows a physician to place a suture in vascular structures through a percutaneous puncture in the leg, in many cases under a local anesthetic in a catheter lab rather than an operating room. This eliminates the need for open-heart surgery or placement of a large metallic implant in the heart. The NobleStitch™ is not a "device" or mechanical implant; it only places a simple polypropylene suture.

The NobleStitch™ is approved for PFO Closure and Cardiovascular suturing in the European Union. The NobleStitch™ EL is FDA cleared for vascular suturing in the United States.

NobleStitch™ EL is distributed worldwide by HeartStitch®, Inc. (HeartStitch® is a registered trademark of HeartStitch, Inc.)

Nobles Medical Technologies II, Inc. was founded by Prof. Anthony Nobles with the intent of leveraging its technologies in the vascular suturing marketplace. The company does business under the name of Nobles Medical II (NMT II).
