NOMi and CloudTags Form Strategic Partnership to Increase Digital Engagement in Stores

Nomi and CloudTags Partner to Offer Opt-In BLE Beacon and NFC-Based Experiences in Physical Stores Without a Native App

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Dec 10, 2014) - Nomi, the dominant in-store marketing and analytics provider, today announced a strategic partnership with in-store engagement platform CloudTags to allow customers to explore physical stores digitally and curate products without a native app download. This partnership's combined dataset will simplify the ability for retailers to use location, product interest and intelligent recommendations to power a better shopping experience for customers that opt-in.

By leveraging Nomi's in-store location technology which includes Video, WiFi and Bluetooth LE, CloudTags enables retailers to build engaging in-store shopping experiences for their customers -- even letting them take their curation data with them at the end of the shopping session by signing up via email. CloudTags' algorithm, called Nimbus, will use Nomi's location data to trigger content at the ideal time in the shopping session to increase opt-in identification and sales performance. Additionally, CloudTags will use Nomi's traffic counting data to measure the success of its retail clients' in-store engagement.

Retailers have started to devote significant resources to offer digital experiences to customers in physical stores. Yet despite these promising efforts, the download and use of retailers' native mobile apps to discover products while in the store remains low. As a result, it's been difficult to offer smart and personal digital store experiences at scale. According to Deloitte Digital, the percentage of in-store sales influenced by digital has more than doubled year-over-year, from 14% in 2012 to 36 percent or more (one-in-three) purchases in 2013 across all product categories. A tipping point is near -- 50% of offline retail sales across categories were projected to touch digital channels by Sept 2014.
