Nominate Your Animal Action Hero!

Attention: City Editor, Environment Editor, Lifestyle Editor OTTAWA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 18, 2005) - It's that time of year again!! If you know someone who has done something outstanding for animals, they may be eligible for an Animal Action Award from the International Fund for Animal Welfare.

Each year IFAW scours the country looking for individuals and organizations whose dedication to animals is worthy of recognition. Perhaps you know someone who has rescued an abandoned kitten, or who campaigns tirelessly for animal welfare. Maybe you know of a company who has established a fund for the protection of an endangered species.

We want to recognize the work of these exceptional people and organizations, and would like you to tell us why they should receive this prestigious award.

Your nominee may, in fact, qualify for the Lifetime Achievement Award; a special award granted to those rare individuals whose extraordinary commitment to animals has improved animal welfare across Canada and throughout the world. Previous winners include world-renowned author Farley Mowat and primatologist and international inspiration Dr. Jane Goodall.

Please write to IFAW and tell us about your nominee's work with animals along with addresses and daytime contact numbers for both of you. You can mail your nomination letter to IFAW Canada, Animal Action Awards, at 1 Nicholas Street, Suite 612, Ottawa, ON, K1N 7B7, fax it to (613) 241-0641, or click on Animal Action Week at www.ifaw.org. The nomination deadline is July 1st, 2005. For more information, call 1-888-500-IFAW.

The Animal Action Awards will be held during Animal Action Week; October 2 - 8 2005. Celebrated in 10 countries around the world, Animal Action Week invites people to play a valuable role in saving animals around the world.
