Nominees Announced for the Rockies Program Competition at the 2012 Banff World Media Festival

Internationally-Recognized Award Program Unveils Top Contenders to Be Honored at Prestigious Awards Gala June 10-13

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 5, 2012) - The Banff World Media Festival today announced the full list of nominees for the upcoming Banff World Media Awards. The internationally-recognized award program celebrates nominees in 26 categories, with the category winners presented within four Rockies Program Awards presentations at the Festival including: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Kids & Animation, and Interactive.

The Banff World Media Awards, affectionately known as the Rockies, is the largest international program competition in the content industry, attracting upwards of one-thousand entries from over 30 countries around the world. The Competition includes 21 genre-based categories and five interactive categories for a total of 26 distinct categories.

The Rockies Program Competition Grand Prizes will be awarded at the Rockies Gala, including "Best Of" titles in Documentary, Drama, Kids & Animation, Interactive, and Entertainment, as well as the Jury Grand Prize, the highest honor of the Rockies Program Competition.

The Rockies ceremony serves as a reflection of the latest trends in international programming within the current traditional, cross-platform and digital entertainment genres. This year's awards winners will be announced during the Banff World Media Festival in Banff, AB, running June 10-13, 2012 at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.
