Nordex Explosives Announces the Introduction of New Robotic Arm Loading System

KIRKLAND LAKE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 17, 2013) -

NORDEX EXPLOSIVES LTD. (TSX VENTURE:NXX) ("Nordex") is pleased to announce the introduction of its new robotic arm bulk emulsion explosives loading system. The system was developed over several years of extensive engineering and evolved through several different fabrication designs to reach the point where Nordex is now pleased to be able to offer its unique abilities to the users of bulk emulsion explosives.

Nordex has been an industry leader in the development of new products and the manufacture of innovative high quality explosives and related products for over 40 years and offers a full package of training and technical support to compliment its full line of explosive products and initiating systems.

This new hydraulic system was engineered as an economic alternative to our clients for the delivery and loading of emulsion explosives for underground mining operations while providing the utmost in maximizing miner safety.

The system was designed to be used exclusively with the Nordex "Normite V" line of bulk emulsion products. This product is a pumpable microsphere sensitized "Booster Sensitive" emulsion which provides unparalleled consistency and performance. Quality control of these products is monitored and maintained at the Nordex manufacturing facility. The emulsions are not blended or mixed in the field in order to guarantee their consistency, quality, performance and safety when they are loaded into the blast holes on site.

Through its long history in the industry Nordex understands underground mining and the unique requirements of our clients. Our philosophy is to work with each or our clients to improve drill patterns, blast designs and blasting practices to achieve better overall results, enhanced safety as well as economic benefits using our proven emulsion formulations and loading equipment.

The new hydraulic operated system comes complete with an underground carrier and includes a robotic loading arm and in-system camera for safe accurate loading. The design is intended to keep the operators a safer distance away from the face of the blast and minimize their risk of being injured by any loose falling rocks or falling materials. To maximize the utilization of the system and to increase the economic benefits to our clients the equipment has been designed to be used in several different underground applications and is not restricted to a single purpose loading operation.

Nordex expects that this new system will be well received by the mining industry as it not only increases miner safety through reduced manual handling but is also easy to operate and maintain with the additional benefit of improved efficiency through its capability of multiple applications.

To design and build this new equipment, Nordex was supported with financial assistance received from the Kirkland Lake Community Development Corp. and FEDNOR in the form of a $500,000 loan.
