NoRedInk Partners With Northwest Evaluation Association to Improve Outcomes in Grammar and Writing

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - July 07, 2015) - NoRedInk, the online education company that helps millions of students learn grammar and writing skills using their personal interests, has announced a partnership with the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA), the pioneer in computer adaptive assessment that measures student growth independent of grade.

School districts can now turn to NoRedInk for assistance after administering NWEA's Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Language Usage test to their students. The partnership will allow schools to upload MAP data into NoRedInk's adaptive curriculum engine, and the program will then recommend the learning paths that are most appropriate for each student's level. The service will be priced at $500 per school.

A recent study demonstrated that student performance on NoRedInk is strongly linked to performance on the MAP Language Usage test. An analysis of the progress of 265 seventh-grade students over the course of one school year showed that scoring just 10 percentage points higher on NoRedInk's program correlated with more than one full grade level of improvement on MAP. Thirty-six percent of students in the study improved by at least two grade levels during the year.

"We're elated that school districts will be able to pair their assessment data from MAP with NoRedInk's learning engine," said Jeff Scheur, founder and CEO of NoRedInk. "We're firm believers in data-driven instruction, and students, teachers, and schools will benefit tremendously from this partnership."

Used in 1 in 4 school districts nationwide, NoRedInk uses students' interests to help them master difficult concepts in grammar, usage, mechanics, and style. The online curriculum adapts to strengths and weaknesses with tutorials and unlimited practice, then aggregates the data to help teachers make instructional decisions and track growth. School administrators receive monthly reports allowing them to see the improvement in student outcomes.
