Normabec Commissions Pre-Feasibility Study on the Real de Catorce Silver Property, Mexico

ST-BRUNO, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - April 23, 2007) - Normabec Mining Resources Limited (NORMABEC)(TSX VENTURE:NMB)(FRANKFURT:N6M) is pleased to report that it has signed a Letter of Intent with Constructora Gardilcic (Gardilcic), a major underground mining contractor in Chile, for the preparation of a pre-feasibility study with the objective of fast-tracking the 100% owned Real de Catorce Silver Project into production.

This strategic agreement will encompass all aspects of a production decision with Gardilcic responsible for coordinating the study and final report.

Within the next three months, the Company anticipates the completion of the different resource estimates on both the underground material left in place by previous operators and on the three tailings piles as well as on the surface material recently evaluated for open pit possibilities, metallurgy, mine and mill design.

Upon positive pre-feasibility results, Gardilcic will have the right to become the underground mining contractor on the various resources previously described. Should Gardilcic exercise its right to operate, NORMABEC and Gardilcic will enter into a sharing agreement whereby Gardilcic shall be entitled to receive 15 % of the net earnings generated by the block of resources defined in the pre-feasibility study.

Constructora Gardilcic covers the full range of mining underground works, from excavation of large caves, tunnels with different sections, ramps, vertical developments, civil works and underground assembly, to mine development.

Gardilcic is currently conducting the underground mine developments operating Meridian El Penon Mine, property of Meridian Gold Inc., located 150 km southeast of Antofagasta. Gardilcic extracts ore at a rate of 2,600 tons per day with annual output of 240,000 ounces of gold and 6,000,000 ounces of silver. Also, Gardilcic operates different undergroung works at various stages of mining for several projects for Codelco, Chile's, largest mining company and the world's top copper producer.

Normabec is very pleased to have signed this collaboration agreement with such a highly reputable firm. The Company has agreed to pay a finder's fee of US $25,000 plus a similar amount upon completion of a favourable pre-feasibility study.
