Noront Resources Ltd.: Gold Zones Being Uncovered At Windfall Lake

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 19, 2005) - Following is an update on Noront's (TSX VENTURE:NOT) wholly owned Windfall Lake property in Urban Township, Quebec. The summer program consisting of stripping, bedrock sampling and geological mapping has been in progress since June and is continuing after being temporarily halted in July due to forest fires in the region.

The surface stripping program is being carried out in the 800 meter by 800 meter gold mineralized area where several sub-surface gold zones were intersected during previous diamond drilling programs. The current stripping consists of removing the shallow over-burden, exposing the bedrock surface both east and west of Tear Drop Lake which is situated in the middle of the mineralized, gold area on Noront's property. Several surface gold zones have been exposed consisting of quartz-pyrite-ankerite-tourmaline veining structurally controlled along numerous fracture sets trending in variable directions. The gold zones are being washed, geologically mapped, GPS surveyed and sampled for gold assaying at regular intervals with diamond saw cuts. Assay results are now being received by the company and will be reported when plotted and correlated with the surface geological mapping.

The object of the current exploration program is to indicate zones at the bedrock surface for possible bulk sampling and to assist in the interpretation and correlation of the sub-surface gold zones as indicated and reported in the previous diamond drill programs. For previous results visit our web site Further diamond drilling is planned in the future to detail drill the interpreted gold zones for mineral reserves as qualified by National Instrument #43-101. The qualified person for the company on this project is John D. Harvey, P.Eng.

The Company has engaged Tracy Armstrong, a Professional Geologist in the Province of Quebec, of P&E Consultants, to assist the Company's management in interpreting prior and present results and to recommend future exploration work.
