Noront Resources Ltd.: New Drill Holes At Windfall Lake

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 18, 2005) - Noront Resources Ltd.
(TSX VENTURE:NOT) (Noront) is pleased to announce the following diamond
drilling results from its wholly owned Windfall Lake property in Urban
Township, Quebec, consisting of 90 contiguous mining claims (approx 1440
hectares). Eight diamond drill holes reported herein contain significant
assays up to 5.9 g/t Au (0.17 oz/T Au) over 7.05m (23.1 feet) including
0.20 meters (0.66 feet) of 175.1 g/t (5.10 oz/T).

Year to-date on the property 12 new holes and one old hole have been
deepened for a total of 3725 meters. The eight new holes reported here
(see Assay Summary Sheet attached to this press release for details) are
the eastern most drill holes completed to-date and investigated a
previously untested geophysical I.P. anomaly trending in a northeasterly
direction coincident with several similar northeasterly trending fault
structures comprising the eastern portion of the Windfall Lake
Deformation Zone (WLDF). Further detail follow-up of the most
significant intersections is required which will include further diamond
drilling and surface trenching.

Most of the drilling to date on Noront's Windfall Lake property has been
within a few hundred meters of the Murgor Resources Inc. and Freewest
Resources Inc. joint venture property situated immediately to the north
of Noront's property in Urban Township. Both properties share the same
stockwork deposit of quartz-pyrite-gold mineralization within highly
altered and structurally deformed acid pyroclactic host rocks beneath
shallow overburden. Lateral and depth dimensions of the widespread
mineralization has yet to be determined, however it is becoming evident
that gold values are elevated along the parallel structures comprising
the WLDF where they intersect or have transected previously emplaced
auriferous quartz-pyrite veining. The latter favourable setting has been
further enriched with subsequent stages of gold enriched mineralizing
events.

Recent significant drilling results announced by Murgor Resources Inc.
and Freewest Resources Inc. (see press released dated March 15, 2005)
indicate a strong correlation between their gold zones and geophysical
I.P. anomalies trending southwest into Noront's neighbouring property to
the south. Thus far continuity between the Murgor/Freewest gold zones
and numerous significant gold intersections on Noront's property (see
previous press releases) has not been established in the drilling
programs to date. Future drilling by Noront will attempt to examine with
closer spaced drilling the previously encountered significant gold
intersections.

Drilling on Noront's Windfall Lake property is supervised by John
Harvey, P.Eng., a qualified person under National Instrument 43-101
guidelines. Assay samples are taken from drill core sawed in half with
one half sent to Bourlamaque Assay laboratory located in Val D'Or,
Quebec for assaying. The remaining half core is being stored on site for
future reference and or further testing.

The gold assay method uses a 30-gram fire assay with gravimetric finish.
Significant assays results are checked by the laboratory where
warranted. A second independent laboratory is also used to verify
randomly selected samples periodically.

Noront is a Tier 2 junior resource company on the TSX Venture Exchange,
trading symbol NOT, with 46,241,741 shares issued to date.
