Nortec (TSX VENTURE:NVT) Acquires Rare Earth Metals Area Reservation, Seinajoki Project, Finland

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 13, 2009) -

- Acquisition of additional 900 hectares Kaatiala Claim Reservation in 10,000 hectare prospective Seinajoki project area of rare earth metals (REE) and gold in Pohjanmaa Gold – Antimony Belt.

- Kaatiala pegmatites one of richest in tantalum, niobium and lithium according to studies by Geological Survey of Finland (GTK).

- Surface sampling in Seinajoki conducted by GTK returned assays as high as 500 grams/tonne gold and 70 kilograms/tonne of native antimony & stibnite.

- Previous shallow diamond drilling on various targets in Seinajoki returned 1 metre of 53 grams/tonne gold and 1 metre of 28.3 grams/tonne gold.

Further to the press release dated September 22, 2009, Nortec Ventures Corp. (TSX VENTURE:NVT) ("Nortec" or the "Company"), is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Kaatiala Rare Earth claim reservation ("Kaatiala") under the existing Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") signed with Akkerman Exploration B.V. ("Akkerman") to earn 100% interest on the Seinajoki project area, Finland. Akkerman was recently granted the Kaatiala reservation by the Finnish Ministry of Labour and Employment. Kaatiala totals 900 hectares and is in addition to the twelve (12) claim reservations (10,000 hectares). The reservations area can be referred to in the attached figure.

The pegmatites in the Kaatiala and Seinajoki area host tin, tantalum, berylium, niobium, tungsten, caesium and lithium mineralization. The Kaatiala reservation covers a quarry which produced 18 tonnes of beryl, 5 tonnes of columbite and 190,000 tonnes of rare mineral calcium feldspar, according to the information obtained from the Geological Survey of Finland ("GTK"). Beryl is the source for beryllium and columbite is the source for tantalum and niobium.

Pegmatites form a very large part of the gold district known as Pohjanmaa Gold-Antimony Belt dominated by metasedimentary rocks of Precambrian age. This belt is known as part of the Bothnian basin and is situated on the northern margin of a Paleo-proterozoic micro-plate. The metasedimentary rocks are intercalated with metavolcanic rocks and have locally been transformed to migmatites, quartz-mica schists and/or intruded by calc-alkaline s-type two-mica granites and the very favourable lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatites. A study on the Svecofennian granitic pegmatites and quartz monzonite intrusions in the Seinajoki region by Hannu Makitie (Special Paper 30, GTK, 2001) shows the Kaatiala pegmatite subtype to be one of the richest in rare minerals such as columbite (tantalum and niobium), cassiterite (tin) and lepidolite (lithium). Lithium also occurs as phosphates near the walls of the pegmatite dykes.

Demand has been increasing worldwide for REE metals and already outweighs supply. China now controls greater than 90% of the global REE supply, and consumes greater than 60%. REE metals, such as those identified in the Kaatiala reservation, can be utilized in many applications.

Tantalum metal is ductile, easily fabricated, highly resistant to corrosion by acids, and a good conductor of heat and electricity and has a high melting point. The major use for tantalum, as tantalum metal powder, is in the production of tantalum capacitors. The end uses for tantalum capacitors include portable telephones, pagers, personal computers, and automotive electronics. Alloyed with other metals, tantalum is also used in making carbide tools for metalworking equipment and in the production of superalloys for jet engine components.

Niobium is used worldwide, mostly as an alloying element in steels. Niobium in the form of high-purity ferroniobium and nickel niobium are used in superalloys for such applications as jet engine components, rocket sub-assemblies, and combustion equipment. Caesium is mainly used in atomic clocks. Caesium is also used in DNA separation techniques, infrared detectors, night vision devices, photoelectric cells, and traffic controls. Caesium-137, an isotope of caesium, is used in industrial gauges, geophysical instruments, and for sterilization of food, sewage, and surgical equipment.

Beryllium is one of the lightest of all metals and has one of the highest melting points of any light metal. Beryllium metal is used principally in aerospace and defence applications because of its light weight, stiffness, and dimensional stability over a wide temperature range. Beryllium-copper alloys are used in a wide variety of applications because of their electrical and thermal conductivity, high strength and hardness, good corrosion and fatigue resistance, and nonmagnetic properties. Beryllium oxide is an excellent heat conductor, with high strength and hardness, and acts as an electrical insulator in some applications.

Demand for lithium is expected to increase in the future due to applications in automobile and hi-tech batteries. The low iron content also makes it very favourable for usage in the ceramics and glass industries.

In addition to the REE, tin and lithium-bearing pegmatites, other modes of occurrence of gold and antimony mineralization in the Seinajoki area include:

- Native gold in dacitic to rhyodacitic metavolcanic rocks and graphitic schists, associated with native antimony, minor arsenopyrite and pyrrhotite.

- Disseminated antimony mineralization in metasediments.

- Native gold in quartz-tourmaline veins in metavolcanic rocks

As mentioned in the previous press release on the Seinajoki project, surface sampling of mineralized boulders and shallow drilling by GTK returned very significant results. Some of the mineralized boulders returned values as high as 500 grams/tonne ("g/t") gold and 70 kilograms of native antimony and stibnite. The shallow diamond drilling mostly concentrated on areas with outcrops and some of the best intersections from drilling returned 1 metre grading 53 g/t gold, 1 metre at 28.3 g/t gold and 82.2 g/t gold across 0.6 metres.

The Precambrian Bothnian Basin metasediments and the associated calc-alkaline s-type plutonic rocks host the well-known Skellefte gold district in Sweden. Over 12.5 million ounces were identified in the Skellefte district. The Pohjanmaa Belt appears to be the southeastern extension of Skellefte into Finland as per geological research publications from Sweden, Finland and USA.

The Bothnian Basin also has geological, petrological and mineralogical similarities to the Alaska-Yukon's Tintina gold belt which hosts among others the well-known Fort Knox gold mine, the Pogo gold mine and the recently discovered Underworld Resources' (TSX-V:UW) Golden Saddle zone.
