North American Chemical Processing Industry Project Spending Up $1 Billion in 2010, a Feature of "Navigating the Currents of Change" on

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - October 20, 2010) -  Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- North America's Chemical Processing Industry (CPI) is on track to post a very productive year, with an increase in total capital and maintenance project spending that will exceed that of 2009 by nearly $1 billion. Through the end of September, Industrial Info was tracking a total of 857 active CPI capital and maintenance projects in North America that are scheduled to start construction this year, carrying a total investment value (TIV) of about $9 billion.

Click here to listen to Trey Hamblet, the vice president of research for the Chemicals Group at Industrial Info, along with the host of "Navigating the Currents of Change" and discover what to expect in the approaching year. "At this point, we see overall spending trends in 2011 to be similar to what we saw this year," Hamblet said in this exclusive "Navigating the Currents of Change" interview. "Those companies that increased project spending in 2010 will probably be the ones to continue doing that next year," Mr. Hamblet added.

Although uncertainties remain about domestic demand for CPI products in 2011, Mr. Hamblet still predicts that North American CPI companies will increase project spending in 2011 by another $1 billion, driven by strong overseas demand growth for the industry's products.
