North American Leaders' Summit: Effect on Postal Service

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 17, 2007) - Security measures in effect for the North American leaders' Summit, being held in Montebello from 20 to 21 August 2007, will affect postal service in downtown Ottawa.

As a precautionary measure, at the request of local authorities, mailboxes located within Bank Street, Laurier Avenue East, the Rideau Canal, and the Ottawa River and the area bounded by the Rideau Canal, Daly Avenue, Colonel By/Sussex, and St. Patrick Street will be removed this evening, and put back on Wednesday morning, August 22.

Customers can still deposit their mail in mailboxes located outside this safety zone or at one of the following postal outlets: 160 Elgin Street (Bell Place), 240 Sparks Street; 298 Dalhousie Street (Desjardins Pharmacy); 73 Rideau Street (The Bay, Rideau Centre); 340 Laurier Street West; 59 Sparks Street; 320 Queen Street (Place de Ville); 355 Slater Street (Minto Place); 296 Bank Street; 181 Bank Street (The Esplanade); 111 Albert Street (World Exchange Plaza).

Canada Post plans to maintain regular delivery service during this period. If customers experience problems receiving or depositing their mail, they can contact our Customer Service 1-800-267-1177.
