North American Tungsten Corporation Announces Board Addition

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 19, 2006) - North American Tungsten Corporation Ltd. ("NTC" or the "Corporation") (TSX VENTURE:NTC) is pleased to announce the addition of Mr. Bryce M.A. Porter to its Board of Directors.

Mr. Porter is a chartered accountant and graduate of the Harvard Business School management program. For 15 years, he was with Alcan Aluminum Limited, and was Chief Financial Officer of Alcan's two major mining subsidiaries and its fabricating arm in the United Kingdom. He then served for 5 years as CFO of Roan Consolidated Mines in Zambia (20,000+ employees and refined copper production of over 300,000 tpy), before being transferred to the U.S. head office of Amax Inc., where he directed accounting while also undertaking assignments relative to its Zambian, Australian and Canadian investments Thereafter he moved to Vancouver as Vice President/CFO of three Amax subsidiaries including Canada Tungsten Mining Corporation Ltd., which were engaged primarily in the mining of tungsten, gold and molybdenum. Mr. Porter has participated in, or has been responsible for, a number of mine developments, restructurings and financings.

During the mid 1990's, Mr. Porter was a director and CFO of Black Swan Gold Mines Ltd., participating in the reactivation of that Company. He was President of Black Swan from 1998-99, refocusing the Company's activities from gold into diamonds, following which he served as Chairman until 2001. He has been a director of Lysander Minerals Corporation since 1997.

In early 2003, Mr. Porter guided Primary Metals Inc. in its acquisition of Beralt Tin & Wolfram (Portugal) S.A. which owns the Panasquiera tungsten mine in Portugal. He successfully directed Beralt through a critical period, installing new management, arranging necessary finance and initiating equipment and procedural changes that significantly reduced mining costs per unit. He served as Chairman of Beralt and a Director of Primary Metals from 2003 to 2005 and as President of Primary Metals from 2003 to 2004.
