North Dakota Department of Transportation's Transit Systems Experience Technology Efficiencies and Gains Foundation for Mobility Management on RouteMatch Software Technology Platform

BISMARCK, ND and ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - Feb 11, 2014) - RouteMatch Software today announced that more than a dozen of North Dakota's rural transit systems are fully equipped with and leveraging the benefits of ITS technologies provided by RouteMatch Software.

"Our partnering transit systems were up and running in less than nine months, and the training and support have been exceptional," said Kim Adair, Transit Section Program Leader for the North Dakota Department of Transportation. "They are excited that they can now support more riders and take more trip requests. Centralized scheduling and dispatching have also allowed the agencies to really look beyond day to day operations, and plan ahead to identify trends for how they can improve operations. I have had many positive comments from directors of the transit systems."

The transit agencies were deployed on RouteMatch's Cloud Services model which allowed for quick updates and upgrades and minimized the impact on IT resource staff.

"I like the reporting within RouteMatch as it allows us to more accurately capture productivity mileage and hours," said Sally Kliniske, Transit Director of Pembina County Meals and Transportation. "I was also surprised how quickly our drivers adopted the tablet devices. For us, drivers' time and our utilization of vehicles have become more efficient with RouteMatch."

For smaller rural transit providers, standardizing on RouteMatch's intelligent transportation platform and equipping all vehicles with tablet mobile data devices for automated vehicle location and to improve driver dispatch communications have helped establish a foundation for rural, intercity and regional coordination. Scheduling of trips to vehicles can be shared and vehicle location and capacity can be viewed and optimized -- key success factors for mobility management. This has equally opened doors for greater communications and collaboration amongst neighboring transportation providers. Transit agencies are now sharing best practices on how to more consistently account for key measures for productivity and quality of service.

"It's exciting. We have been up and running for just three months now, and training and deployment went smoothly," said Carol Anderson, Executive Director for West River Transit. "The technology is helping us more effectively manage our trips across our seven counties, and we are reaching out to further our coordination efforts with our local Department of Veteran Affairs medical center."

"The software is easy to learn and user friendly," added Ellen Lang, Operations Manager for West River Transit. "The tablets have really saved us a lot in reducing the amount of paper used for transit operations. We can now see where riders are and help them make smooth transfers to other vehicles. I love it and am really looking forward to learning even more from the upcoming RouteMatch User Conference."

"North Dakota DOT's success really exemplifies how states can provide mission critical resources to alleviate operational and ridership challenges faced by rural transit systems," said Brian Corcoran, Vice President, RouteMatch Software. "We are thrilled to be supporting North Dakota transit agencies in their coordination efforts moving forward."
