North Georgia Communities of Big Canoe and Bent Tree Offer Real Estate Rich in Historical Significance and Green Development

JASPER, GA--(Marketwire - March 11, 2008) - Walking along one of heavily wooded hiking trails in the Community of Big Canoe or horseback riding through the community of Bent Tree, it is hard to believe you are trekking through a subdivision in the North Georgia Mountains. Both of these developments focus on a "green development" style. Large portions of the Big Canoe Community and its associated real estate have been put aside as a wildlife sanctuary. The homes in both communities must be built to blend in with the environment. Areas with historical significance are preserved. Both communities have mountain peaks over 3200 feet and are about a 1 hour drive North of Atlanta.

The Big Canoe Company, LLP is the developer of the Big Canoe Community. Other real estate companies feature listings in the community as well. IBA Mountain Homes is an independent North Georgia real estate company that focuses mainly on resales in the Big Canoe Community real estate market. IBA agent Karin Elliott agrees that the 'green development' is something that many of her clients desire, "One of the most common comments we hear regarding the Big Canoe Community is how well the homes blend in with the natural surroundings."

While the Big Canoe Community offers real estate ranging from rustic North Georgia cabins to multi-million dollar homes for sale, part of the Community's appeal are the miles of hiking trails that weave through the acres of woodlands. Along these trails are a variety of historically significant landmarks such as prospecting mounds from the first gold rush in America. Also many artifacts are left over from the American Indians. Though their true meaning is debated, mysterious rock cairns created by the area's indigenous population are scattered around Indian Rocks Park, one of many parks located within the Big Canoe Community.

The community of Bent Tree shares similar real estate styles along with historically significant landmarks. Bent Tree itself is named after "Trail Trees" or "Boundary Trees." Saplings were bent into unique shapes to convey different messages to Native Americans. The bent trees that survive today in the forests of both Big Canoe and Bent Tree are interesting and valuable links to the area's past.

In addition to the interesting trailside landmarks, both the community of Big Canoe and Bent Tree offer an abundance of amenities including golf, tennis, clubhouse, equestrian center, and fitness center just to list a few. Both of these communities have a variety of home styles and a wide price range.
