North Tampa Suites Hotel Breakfast Ambassador to Receive Marriott Excellence Award

Jean Byrne of Fairfield Inn & Suites Tampa North to Be Honored at May 14th Award Ceremony Near Bethesda Headquarters

TEMPLE TERRACE, FL--(Marketwired - Apr 23, 2013) - In her day-to-day duties, Jean Byrne, breakfast ambassador at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Tampa North, ensures the hotel kitchen is clean and organized, takes inventory, offers insight for orders and works directly with vendors to ensure orders are correct. While Byrne, known to friends and coworkers as Jinney, completes these tasks with enthusiasm, it's what she does beyond her "regular job" that earned her a Marriott Excellence Award.

For the past six years, Jinney has brought an "outstanding work ethic and commitment" to this Tampa hotel near USF, and on May 14th, 2013, she will be honored alongside eight other global associates with a special ceremony at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center.

Jinney was nominated by guest services manager Matthew Berry, who was filled with praise not only for Jinney's dependable, hard-working nature, but for her ability to connect with people. "She makes coworkers and guests feel like she is a part of their family," Berry says, "...and has the ability to uplift people when they are going through a tough time."

Many guests of these North Tampa suites are in town either receiving treatment or visiting friends and family at the nearby Moffitt Cancer Center. "Jinney goes out of her way to get to know these guests," Berry says. "She has an incredible ability to listen and to empathize with them. When they are feeling down, she will do whatever she can to make them feel better."

Jinney will do little things to make a big difference, including taking breakfast up to a guest in her room, opening early or closing later to accommodate a guest's schedule and finding out just how a guest likes her breakfast and making sure it's ready when she comes down in the morning. There are many regular guests at this hotel, and Jinney keeps in touch with quite a few. "There are very few people that you can tell genuinely care for people, but Jinney is one of those people," Berry says. "She will listen to problems, offer a prayer or tell a joke to make somebody feel better... She is a big reason why I love working [here]."

Whether keeping things running in the kitchen or chipping in at the front desk or housekeeping, "Jinney is a great asset to our hotel," Berry says. "She is always willing to help out wherever is needed...and constantly going the extra mile for her guests."
