North Valley Bancorp to Pay Trust Preferred Interest and Redeem North Valley Capital Trust I


REDDING, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 7, 2012) - North Valley Bancorp (NASDAQ: NOVB), the bank holding company of North Valley Bank, based in Redding, California (the "Company"), today announced that it received approval from the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco ("FRB") and the California Department of Financial Institutions ("DFI") to pay all deferred interest on its junior subordinated notes underlying its trust preferred securities in the approximate amount of $5.7 million and to fully redeem its subordinated note North Valley Capital Trust I in the amount of $10.3 million, which bears an interest rate of 10.25%. The redemption date is July 25, 2012. Under applicable regulatory capital guidelines issued by bank regulatory agencies, upon notice of redemption, these trust preferred securities will no longer qualify as Tier 1 capital for the Company.
