North York CPA Re-Elected District Association President

Melanie Russell leads local Chartered Professional Accountants

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 1, 2013) - North York Chartered Professional Accountant and prominent business leader Melanie Russell, CPA, CA, has been re-elected President of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario's North York District CPA Association. The District Association is the CPA profession's local presence and organizes activities that benefit local Chartered Professional Accountants and the community at large.

In addition to helping to serve, represent and provide fellowship among local CPAs, the District Association also helps bring CPA Ontario's many programs to its members, while also organizing important community events, such as tax clinics for people with low incomes.

Melanie Russell is a President with Kalex Valuations Inc. in Toronto. A CPA, CA since 1988 and Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) since 1990, she currently focuses on the areas of business valuations for dispute and non-dispute situations, damage quantification, forensic/financial investigations and income analyses.

Ms. Russell has qualified as an expert witness in valuations, damage quantification and income analyses, and has acted as an expert in ADR matters (including collaborative practice). She has worked with individual, private company and public company clients. Ms. Russell has also been active in accounting, auditing and valuations/finance education since 1987.

She has taught at various universities and professional development institutions and has been involved in reviewing and revising educational and professional material (courses, publications and articles).
