Northern Freegold Resources Ltd.: First 2007 Diamond Drill Hole in Nucleus Zone Steps Out 50 m and Returns 72 m of 2.5 g/t Gold

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - July 19, 2007) - Northern Freegold Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:NFR) is pleased to announce the first drill results from the 2007 diamond drill program at the Nucleus zone at the Freegold Mountain Project. Additional results will be released as they are received, compiled and interpreted.

Highlights of Hole GRD07-41 - Nucleus Zone:

- Returns multiple high grade intervals including up to 2.00 m (6.56 feet) of 45.0 g/t Au within 72.35 m (237.30 feet) of 2.5 g/t Au and 0.14% Cu

- Steps out 50 metres downslope to the east of Hole GRD06-015 which contained visible gold

- Mineralization appears to widen towards the Revenue Zone 2.5 km to the east

- First of 15 holes totaling 3319 m (10,886 feet) drilled to date on the Nucleus in 2007

Hole GRD07-41, the first diamond drill hole of the 2007 15,000 m diamond drill program on the Freegold Mountain Project in the Yukon Territory was completed June 7, 2007. The hole was drilled to a depth of 262 m (860 feet) in the southeast portion of the Nucleus Zone, downhill and to the east of Hole GRD06-15 which was drilled in 2006 and included the occurrence of visible gold within a long, low-grade intersection (62.0 m of 0.82 g/t Au) (to view the Nucleus drill hole plan please click on: http://www.ccnmatthews.com/docs/nfr0718plan.pdf)(to view the Nucleus section please click on: http://www.ccnmatthews.com/docs/nfr0718section.pdf). Hole GRD07-41 is located directly uphill from the Mechanic Creek placer gold workings where wire gold and large nuggets (up to 26.6 grams) are currently being recovered.

Results from Hole GRD07-41 include:

Hole GRD07-41 is the first of many holes planned to test the eastern extension of the Nucleus Zone and its relationship with the Cu-Au-Ag rich Revenue Zone, 2.5 km to the east. A 36 km 3-D IP geophysical survey is being performed between the Revenue and Nucleus Zones to better define drill targets exploring the relationship between the two zones. Although historical drilling has returned Cu values in the Nucleus Zone, this is the first drill hole in which they have correlated well with the Au values. There is a definite correlation between the Cu and Au in the Revenue Zone. The diamond drill is currently on the 15th hole of the 2007 program in the Nucleus Zone.

Bill Harris, President & CEO, commented, "Encountering a long, higher grade interval on our first hole of 2007, which steps out 50 m from known mineralization in the Nucleus Zone is very exciting. Not only does this hole provide us more information on the relationship between the Nucleus and the Cu-Au-Ag rich Revenue Zone, it is also helping to define a northwest-southeast trend of higher grade gold values running through the Nucleus deposit."

The Freegold Mountain Project covers an area in excess of 64 square miles (166 square km) and several road accessible mineralized zones which include historical and non-43-101 compliant resources. The Nucleus Zone is within the Golden Revenue property which is under option from ATAC Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:ATC).

Historical work on the Freegold Mountain property dating back to 1930 indicates that the property holds significant potential to host an intrusion related gold deposit or bulk-tonnage gold+/-copper porphyry style mineralization such as that seen at Kinross Gold's Fort Knox deposit in Alaska which has produced more than 3 million ounces in the past 10 years and still has a resource of 2 million ounces of gold from proven and probable reserves of 82.1 million tonnes grading 0.74 g/t.

Quality Control and Assurance

All core samples from diamond drilling are split and sent to EcoTech Laboratory in Whitehorse for sample preparation and then to EcoTech Laboratory in Kamloops for analysis. Blanks, commercial standards and duplicate core samples are included in each batch. Gold is analysed on 30 gram pulps by fire assay followed by aqua regia digestion and Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS). Gold values greater than 1000 ppb are reanalysed by gravimetric fire assay. Check assays are carried out by metallic screen fire assay. Other elements are analysed by 28 element ICP analysis after aqua regia digestion. Additional check analyses and assays will be carried out by ALS Chemex in North Vancouver.

The program is under the direct supervision of Mr. Ron Robertson, P. Geol., hereby identified as the "Qualified Person" under the NI 43-101 requirements.
