Northern Lion Gold Corp.: New Gold Zone Discovered at
Haveri, Follow-up Drilling to Begin Immediately

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - March 15, 2005) - Northern
Lion Gold Corp. (TSX VENTURE:NL)

NOT FOR DISSEMINATION IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Northern Lion Gold Corp. (the "Company") reports that it has identified
a new zone of gold mineralization, hosted by strongly silicified rocks,
located to the west of the Haveri open pit. This discovery results from
recent drilling and ongoing analysis of extensive rock (core)
geochemical data.

The new mineralization, identified to date by two sets of drill holes
approximately 300m apart, is of a style not previously observed at
Haveri., and suggests a new geological model for the property. Drilling
will resume immediately to further investigate the potential of this
discovery.

The Company has now completed 16,062.65 meters of diamond drilling in 59
holes since acquiring the Haveri Project, located in southwestern
Finland. In addition, it has completed extensive geophysical work and
technical analysis with a view to establishing a structural and
geochemical understanding of the regional mineralized systems present at
Haveri.

Recent Results:

The following table presents salient gold assay data from the most
recently completed ten diamond drill holes. Seven of these holes were
drilled within the area of the Haveri Mine, in the Mine West Zone (one
hole/448.50m), the Southwest Copper Zone (one hole/160.70m) and the
Tombstone Zone (five holes/1139.00m), to follow-up significant
mineralized intercepts encountered during earlier work by the Company.
The three "ER" holes (441.50m) were located at Eronen, approximately two
km south of the Haveri open pit, and were designed to test magnetic and
HLEM targets identified by ground geophysical surveying in September and
October, 2004:

Discussion:

Work completed to date west of the mine area indicates that certain of
the Mine West (eg: MW-01, MW-02, MW-03, MW-09) and Tombstone (eg: TS-03,
TS-04) drill holes have encountered a zone(s?) of compact, pervasive,
medium grey silicification/quartz veining over core lengths ranging from
approximately 20m to 100m, at vertical depths varying between 130m and
300m.

This silicification is often accompanied by significant gold
mineralization which, at least in part, is expressed as fine-grained
metallic gold. Streaks and bands of sulphides (pyrite, pyrrhotite,
chalcopyrite) have also been noted. At present, silicification has been
observed in drill holes, from MW-01 in the north to TS-03 in the south,
a horizontal distance of some 300m. Limited observations suggest that
this zone lies structurally beneath rocks exhibiting a distinct
geochemical signature (U, Mo, Ni, As, Pb, Ba, Th, Sb, W, Zn) that is
associated with the Haveri Mine type of copper-gold (silver)
mineralization in pyritic sulphides.

This recently-recognized relationship is thought to be significant to an
understanding of Haveri. Diamond drilling (2000m) is expected to
commence on March 14, to follow-up the mineralization recently
encountered at Tombstone and to test exploration targets identified as a
result of interpretation of airborne geophysical and rock (core)
geochemical data.

Quality Control/Quality Assurance:

All field activities in Finland, including diamond drilling, are
supervised by Henrik Wik, M.Sc. (Geology and Mineralogy), a Finnish
citizen, under the direction of John R. Fraser, P.Geo. (BC), the
Company's Vice President, Exploration, Northern, a "Qualified Person",
as defined by National Instrument 43-101. Core samples are analysed for
gold by Activation Laboratories Ltd. of Ancaster, Ontario, using
fire-assay with geochemical finish on a 30 gram sub-sample. For details
of the ongoing Quality Control / Quality Assurance program for this
project, the reader is referred to a Company news release dated May 26,
2004.

About Haveri

The Haveri Project comprises the Haveri and Ansomaki claims which
encompass approximately 867 ha. On completion of an agreement announced
on October 5, 2004, Northern Lion will own 100% of both claims.
Occurrences of gold and copper mineralization, including the Haveri
Mine, a past producer, are hosted by altered mafic and felsic volcanic
and volcaniclastic rocks of the early Proterozoic Tampere Schist Belt,
over an area at least 1.5 km by 2.0 km. The claims are located 175 km
north of Helsinki, in Finland, a mining- friendly and
infrastructure-rich member of the European Union.
