Northern Mining: Five Drill Targets Identified in Tanzania

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - May 26, 2005) - MDN NORTHERN MINING. (MINIERES du NORD - "MDN") (TSX:MDN) is pleased to announce that it plans to launch a new drill program to explore five targets in its mineral properties in Tanzania. These targets are located close to the Tulawaka gold mine.

MDN Northern Mining is planning a 4,000 meter reverse circulation drilling campaign designed to test five significant geochemical and geophysical anomalies that have been identified up to 15 km to the north and east of the Tulawaka gold mine. These targets were obtained from detailed soil geochemical campaigns followed by induced polarisation geophysical surveys, which have together indicated attractive anomalies meriting an initial drill campaign. These exploration techniques are essentially the same as those that were used in the discovery of the Tulawaka gold deposits.

These targets are completely new and have been generated in areas that had never been explored before. The objective of this exploration is to discover further gold mineralisation that could eventually provide additional material for the Tulawaka gold plant.

Results from this pioneering drilling program should be available early in the third quarter. The current drill targets are located in Prospecting Licenses optioned from Lakota Resources Inc. and Tan Range Exploration Corporation.

The Tulawaka gold mine is a joint venture between Northern Mining (30%) and Pangea Goldfields (70%), the project operator and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Barrick Gold Corporation. The Tulawaka mine started commercial production in March 2005.

NORTHERN MINING is a Montreal-based Canadian exploration company that holds a 30% interest in the Tulawaka gold project and a majority interest in 25 adjacent licences in Tanzania, a majority interest in four properties in Eritrea, and other gold and base metal exploration interests in Quebec, Canada.
