Northern Star Announces Further Diamond Drill Results

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - March 26, 2008) - Northern Star Mining Corp. ("Northern Star" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:NSM) is pleased to announce further results from its 2007 diamond drill program on its wholly owned Malartic-Midway gold project, located 16 kilometers west of Val d'Or, Quebec. Val d'Or is a world renowned gold mining district.

Drilling in 2007 was oriented towards exploration of higher grade gold mineralization within gabbros of the Malartic Goldfields type and lower grade mineralization within porphyries of the Osisko-Canadian Malartic and Agnico-Eagle Goldex types.

Drilling was also oriented to discover and define gold mineralization structures, alteration and rock mechanics in order to plan for and advance underground exploration and development at the Malartic-Midway gold project.

Results are as follows:

HOLE # From (m) To (m) Core length (m) Grade (g/t Au) Rock Type

MM-07-94 286.8 293.1 6.3 (21ft) 9.55 (0.28opt) Gabbro

MM-07-95 149.9 158.7 8.8 (28.9ft) 8.56 (0.25opt) Gabbro

MM-07-96 140.0 151.6 11.6 (38ft) 2.07 (0.06opt) Porphyry

- Core lengths are fairly close to true width

On the Piche-Harvey portion of the project, drilling was oriented towards the discovery of new porphyry type mineralization, for large volume, lower grade type gold mineralization (Osisko-Canadian Malartic, Agnico-Eagle Goldex).

Results are as follows:

HOLE # From (m) To (m) Core length (m) Grade (g/t Au) Rock Type

MH-07-103 176.9 201.6 24.7 (81.1ft) 1.86 (0.054opt) Porphyry
Including 197.9 198.8 0.9 (2.95ft) 36.20 (1.04opt) Porphyry

MH-07-107 71.0 97.0 26 (85.3ft) 2.41 (0.07opt) Porphyry
Including 78.0 82.5 4.5 (14.8ft) 9.40 (0.27opt) Porphyry

"The diamond drill results continue to show the continuity and thickness of gold mineralization on the project. As well, the discovery of new porphyry type gold mineralization on the project adds a new dimension to its potential. The issuance of the Certificat of Authorization permitting the construction of the decline (see press release February 27, 2008) along with the contracting of Dumas Contracting Ltd., to carry out the work is very encouraging and exciting, as we can anticipate beginning the underground phase of this project very shortly", says Michel David, Chairman.

Additional news will be announced as available.
