Northwell Health and Ochsner Health Executives Announced as Keynotes for The 2016 OPEN MINDS Strategy & Innovation Institute

Speakers Will Provide Insight Into How Provider Organizations Serving Complex Consumers Can Leverage Emerging Innovations to Gain a Strategic Advantage

GETTYSBURG, PA --(Marketwired - February 18, 2016) - OPEN MINDS announced that Kristofer L. Smith, M.D., M.P.P., Vice President and Medical Director of Northwell Health (previously North Shore-LIJ), and Philip Oravetz, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A., Medical Director of Accountable Care at Ochsner Health System, will deliver the keynote addresses at The 2016 OPEN MINDS Strategy & Innovation Institute. This two-day executive education event will be held on June 8-9, 2016 at The Sheraton (French Quarter) in New Orleans, Louisiana.

For the past five years, The OPEN MINDS Strategy & Innovation Institute has helped executives of organizations serving consumers with complex needs link emerging innovations to strategy and develop a sustainable position in a disruptive market. Dr. Kristofer L. Smith will open this year's institute with his keynote presentation, "Strategic Diversification In A Time Of Value-Based Care." Dr. Smith is vice president and medical director for Northwell Health Solutions, Northwell Health's care management organization. He is also assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine. In his role, Dr. Smith leads the organization's system-wide care continuum initiatives in the post-acute setting and directs the Advanced Illness Management program. He has been invited to give regional and national talks on health policy, the frail elderly, and the intersection of payment reform and clinical redesign. Dr. Smith has worked with regional and national associations such as the Greater New York Hospital Association, the American College of Physicians, the Coalition to Transform Advanced Care, and the American Association of Home Care Medicine on healthcare reform. He is the physician lead for a number of governmental demonstration projects including Medicare's Independence at Home, Bundled Payment for Care Improvement and the New York State Health Home.

To kick-off the second day of the institute, Dr. Philip Oravetz will share his keynote presentation, "Taking Risks, Finding Rewards: The Ochsner Accountable Care Organization Strategy." As ACO Medical Director at Ochsner Health System in New Orleans, Louisiana, Dr. Philip Oravetz provides physician leadership to the system's Accountable Care Network, which is the largest integrated delivery system in southeast Louisiana. As an experienced medical professional in integrated delivery, Dr. Oravetz serves as lead in development of Ochsner's Clinical Integration Network, Pursuit of Value initiative and integration of the system's population risk management model. He has been published in many prominent industry trade publications including, Strategic Health Care Marketing Magazine and FAM Med. Dr. Oravetz is a highly respected and distinguished speaker at industry conferences and medical management educational events.
