KINSMAN ROBINSON GALLERIES is pleased to announce the forthcoming retrospective of internationally acclaimed Ojibway artist Norval Morrisseau. Following the highly successful exhibition in 2008, we spent the following two years gathering quality works from each decade of the artist's career. These works reflect an ever-evolving style from the muted earth tones and sharp lines, to the bold primary colors of the artist's later pieces. From beginning to end, Morrisseau's works radiate an emotive power that connect the viewer to his sacred legends.

"Ojibwa Bear In Fish Spawn" was shown at Jack Pollock's premier groundbreaking Morrisseau exhibition in 1962. This is just one of the early Morrisseaus in this retrospective that covers all periods of the artist's work. There are at least a half-dozen works from each of the artist's major decades. Other special subjects include "Kateri, Lily of the Mohawks," "The Sacred Bear Giving Children And Animals A Ride," "Thunderbird," and "Merman Is The Lord And Ruler of The Water of The World."
