OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 15, 2009) - The Public Health Agency of Canada has posted today's updated national case numbers of H1N1 flu virus infections in Canada, as reported by the provincial and territorial health authorities.

These numbers are available on the Public Health Agency of Canada website at: http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/alert-alerte/swine-porcine/surveillance-eng.php

Public health authorities are continually assessing the public health response to the outbreak of H1N1 flu virus.

PLEASE NOTE:

National case numbers will not be updated again until Wednesday, May 20, 2009.

Over the weekend, individual Provinces and Territories may release case numbers, however there will be no formal case number reporting to the Public Health Agency of Canada. The Provincial and Territorial numbers will be reflected in the national case number update on Wednesday, May 20.

The evidence gathered so far indicates the H1N1 flu virus causes only mild illness in most cases and spreads much like seasonal influenza.
