Notice of Public Interest - Spring Icebreaking in Lower North Shore Harbours

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 9, 2011) - The Canadian Coast Guard wishes to notify coastal residents and visitors on the Lower North Shore that it will begin spring icebreaking operations on or about March 14, 2011.

A Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker will open the harbours of Harrington, Tête-à-la-Baleine, La Tabatière, Saint-Augustin and Blanc-Sablon. Canadian Coast Guard icebreakers have a red hull with a transverse white band and a white funnel bearing a maple leaf.

The Canadian Coast Guard strongly recommends that pedestrians, fishers and snowmobilers leave the ice when they see the icebreaker in the vicinity. The ice may move and this may create a real danger for anyone in the area of the Canadian Coast Guard vessel.
