Nova Scotia Coastal Areas Re-Open for Shellfish Harvesting

DARTMOUTH, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - Nov. 4, 2011) - Fisheries and Oceans Canada advises that some emergency shellfish (oysters, clams, mussels) closures that resulted from bacteriological contamination caused by extreme rainfall in Nova Scotia coastal areas between Halifax and Guysborough on October 28, 2011 are being lifted due to acceptable water quality and shell stock levels.

Coordinates of closures now revoked:

All foreshore and marine waters within 3 km of the shoreline and islands of the Halifax Regional Municipality and Guysborough County from Hartlen Point, HRM to Barachois Point.

Please note all other closures in force within this area due to bacteriological or natural sources of contamination remain in effect.
