Novastar Resources Supports China's Minister of Land and Resources Recommendation on the Exploration and Prospecting of Mineral Sector to Foreign Investment

NEW YORK, NEW YORK--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 16, 2005) - Seth Shaw, Head of Strategic Development, Novastar Resources, Ltd. (OTCBB:NVAS) a leader in the commercial mining sector and a significant commercial mining source of Thorium and Rare Earths, addressed the market potential for and benefits of Thorium to delegates from the Chinese government at the 05 China Mining 2005 Conference in Beijing. Joining Mr. Shaw, was Seth Grae, President, Thorium Power, an esteemed member of Novastar's Advisory Board.

Their presentation came in the wake of an announcement by Sun Wencheng, China's Minister of Land and Resources that China will step up the opening of its mineral sector to foreign investments while trying to make its legal framework more transparent. In addition, according to Mr. Wencheng, China will double its efforts to boost international trade in mineral products and encourage competitive domestic enterprises to join overseas exploitation and weave a solid and secure energy supply chain.

Mr. Shaw and Mr. Grae, embraced Mr. Wencheng's announcement and jointly extolled the virtues of Thorium for the Chinese mining sector, which is more efficient and far less radioactive than uranium, therefore ensuring the long-term sustainability of nuclear power for China and other countries. They went on to explain that the transition to Thorium use could also be used to dispose of weapons grade plutonium (Wpu) or civilian plutonium.

Mr. Grae added, "That with Thorium Power's Thorium/Uranium fuel it is not possible to produce weapons suitable material, and it also has the potential to reduce by up to 10-15% total fuel costs and significantly reduces in volume, the weight and long-term radio toxicity of its spent nuclear fuel."

Mr. Shaw concluded that this news could only increase investor interest in Novastar Resources, as the company continues to be a trailblazer in the Thorium mining sector.
