NOW Receives B Corps Certification

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 18, 2013) - NOW is proud to announce that we have just become a certified B Corps!

B is for "benefit" and B Corps is a new global designation for sustainable businesses, in the same way that certified fair trade works for coffee. The businesses in the B Corp roster must prove that they meet rigorous standards in all facets of their work and are using the power of their business to help solve social and environmental problems.

At NOW we've gone through a lengthy third-party screening and auditing process to determine if we reach the B Corps gold standard of social and environmental accountability and performance. And we're proud to say that we do.

"From the start, we've been a feisty, independent media company with a social mission. For over 30 years now, we've worked to be both a newspaper and an enterprise that takes the public interest to heart. And the interest of Mother Nature," says NOW editor/CEO Alice Klein. "We've held tight to those values both in our pages and in our company, but until now you've had to take our word on that."

NOW is thrilled to be joining the over 600 pioneering companies in 60 sectors of 15 countries that have ponied up and passed the test.
