NRB Receives Five Top Honors for Modular Building Excellence

Muhlenberg College Dormitory was chosen as Best of Show!

EPHRATA, PENNSYLVANIA and GRIMSBY, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 14, 2014) - The MBI "Awards of Distinction" contest is the commercial modular industry's premier awards program, offering competition in over 30 categories for MBI members. This year the awards were handed out at the World of Modular in San Antonio, TX. NRB Inc. received the "Best of Show", a prestigious award voted by our industry peers, and four "First Place" honors.

The "Best of Show" and First Place in Commercial Housing awards were both presented for the Muhlenberg College Dormitory addition; a 6,000 sq. ft., 3 story building that emulates the surrounding circa 1900 campus architecture, yet offers modern day amenities. The off-site construction process allowed NRB to build in a controlled environment away from the project site and then install the 20 modules in the tight restricted campus area with minimal site disruption and no disturbance to mature surrounding landscape.

A unique, innovative Robotics Pavilion was awarded First Place in Special Applications. Designed in collaboration with York University Students as a facility to house aquatic robots used for research, it also functions as a campus transit shelter. Created to generate a definite 'wow' factor with its acute geometric angles and 'switchblade' design, the Pavilion is truly one of kind.

First Place was awarded to the MIT Daycare project in an Education category. Built in partnership with Triumph Modular, this spectacular 14,000 sq. ft. custom designed steel and concrete building utilized NRB's unique "build together" process allowing for precision fit and finish.

The 12,000 sq. ft., 2 story Lehman College Child Care Center, built in partnership with Axis Modular Construction received another First Place. Boasting many innovative and sustainable features such as a cantilevered upper floor and vertical translucent tubes to diffuse light entering the classroom, the design proves again what can be accomplished with Modular Construction.

NRB is extremely proud of these accomplishments and the recognition they bring. We thank our industry partners who helped make these awards possible. We pride ourselves on being a leader in permanent off-site modular construction, now in our 35th year.
