NRC Awards its Own for Electronic In-House "Parlons
Francais" Program

ST JOHN'S, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR--(CCNMatthews - March 14, 2005) -
NRC President Pierre Coulombe today honoured the exceptional
achievements of 13 NRC staff in St. John's Newfoundland - the first of
the annual NRC Outstanding Achievements Awards ceremonies for 2004. From
St. John's to Victoria via Montreal, London and Ottawa, NRC will be
recognizing the talent and creative energy of its outstanding achievers
in their communities. The St. John's celebration taking place today
recognizes staff of the NRC Newfoundland and Labrador work force who
have made an outstanding contribution in 2004 to Canada and warrant
citation as role models.

In St. John's, NRC celebrated the exceptional achievement by a group of
its employees, recognizing their efforts to create an in-house program
which facilitates their learning and retention of the French language.
These NRC staff members volunteered their time and voices to create the
intranet-based Parlons francais! This Program has gained praise not only
from within the NRC but also from outside organisations.

Dr. Coulombe recognized the excellence, creativity and innovative
qualities of these employees as being: "Clearly, the driving force and
essence of NRC and its innovation"

Recognized globally for research and innovation, Canada's National
Research Council (NRC) is a leader in the development of an innovative,
knowledge-based economy for Canada through science and technology.
