NRC Awards Outstanding Achievers in Montreal

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - March 24, 2005) - NRC President Dr.
Pierre Coulombe today honoured the exceptional achievements of NRC
Quebec staff in Montreal - the third of the annual NRC Outstanding
Achievements Awards ceremonies for 2004. From St. John's to Victoria
via Montreal, London and Ottawa, NRC is recognizing the talent and
creative energy of its outstanding achievers. Today's ceremony
recognized NRC employees from Montreal, Boucherville and Saguenay who
have made an outstanding contribution to Canada and Canadians.

In Montreal, NRC celebrated its remarkable performers, including one of
its business developers who negotiated 31 new R&D collaborations and 8
licensing agreements for the NRC Biotechnology Research Institute
(NRC-BRI). His accomplishments contributed substantially to the 7M$ of
outside revenues generated for the NRC-BRI. Other NRC staff gained
deserved praise for their strategic management of Intellectual Property
or highly-consultative and bilingual efforts regarding Official Language
programming.

Dr. Coulombe recognized the excellence, energy and enterprising work of
these employees as being: "Clearly, the driving force and essence of NRC
and its contributions to Canada"

Recognized globally for research and innovation, Canada's National
Research Council (NRC) is a leader in the development of an innovative,
knowledge-based economy for Canada through science and technology.
