NRC/Media Advisory: New Biomedical Commercialization Centre Opens in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 12, 2005) - The Honourable Reg Alcock, President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for the Canadian Wheat Board, on behalf of the Honourable David L. Emerson, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the National Research Council (NRC), will officially open Canada's first biomedical commercialization centre.

The NRC Centre for the Commercialization of Biomedical Technology (NRC-CCBT) in Winnipeg is a model for public-private sector partnerships in commercialization, which is a key element of NRC's cluster strategy being pursued at NRC locations across Canada. New programs and services will help entrepreneurs and small Canadian firms grow and successfully commercialize biomedical technology in Manitoba and Canada and reach markets around the world.
