NRF 2015: Digimarc to Showcase Growing Retail Industry Support for Digimarc® Barcode and Digimarc IDs

Booth to Feature Retailer and CPG Sample Packages; Digimarc Barcode Scanning Contest; Special Offer; and Private Showings of Upcoming Innovations

BEAVERTON, OR and NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jan 7, 2015) - NRF Booth #418 -- Digimarc Corporation (NASDAQ: DMRC) today announced it will showcase early adopters of and key infrastructure developments for Digimarc® Barcode and Digimarc IDs at the National Retail Federation's Annual Convention and EXPO (Retail's BIG Show) 2015. A nationally recognized retailer implementing Digimarc Barcode throughout all of its locations will be present in Digimarc's booth, as well as sample packages from a leading global consumer products company; and representatives from important business partners, including Shazam and SGS International.

The company, and its partners and customers, will demonstrate how Digimarc's solutions can reduce costs and improve customer satisfaction for retailers through amazingly fast cashier-assisted and self-checkout, and increase revenue for retailers and brands by enabling and creating unprecedented opportunities for mobile shopper engagement. Examples, testimonials, and advice will be presented that illustrate how to achieve remarkable results from Digimarc-enabled packaging, in-store audio, retail signage, circulars, magazine ads, catalogs, and other marketing and merchandising elements:

  • Nationally Recognized Retailer: In the booth, attendees will see several examples of this retailer's Digimarc-enabled packaging available in stores now and hear directly from customer representatives about the implementation process.

  • Cooking Light: Time, Inc.'s Cooking Light makes routine use of Digimarc IDs to enhance its magazine. Based on this success, Cooking Light has extended use to packaging for its branded line of ready-made food items, including Chipotle Pork Roast, Seared Sliced Beef Sirloin and Brussels Sprouts with Pancetta. The meals, available in 250 Super Target stores nationwide, connect customers with product preparation tips, pairing suggestions and savings opportunities.

  • Smithfield Foods Inc.: Digimarc will feature several Digimarc-enabled products from Smithfield Foods Inc., the world's largest pork processor. Sample packaging of these items, soon to be available in leading retail stores, will be on display in Digimarc's booth.

  • Southern Graphics Systems (SGS), International: Representatives from SGS, a certified service provider for the Digimarc Barcode, will be offering a special show promotion where current and prospective customers can request one of their packages be Digimarc-enabled by SGS, then printed on an HP Indigo digital press for demonstration and testing purposes.

  • Shazam: Digimarc and Shazam recently partnered to make more of the sights and sounds that shoppers experience every day into tangible opportunities to explore, engage, purchase, and share via smartphones and other mobile devices. Shazam representatives will be on hand to explain how to create these compelling shopper engagements.

  • HP: Retailers and consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands can learn more about how HP is using Digimarc technology to seamlessly link printed pieces to the Internet via smartphones and mobile devices.

Contest and Demos:
Attendees can enter Digimarc's Package Scanning Game, a contest that demonstrates just how fast anyone can scan items using Digimarc Barcode. Last year at NRF, Digimarc team members set the Guinness World Record for scanning and bagging 50 items in 48.15 seconds. Think you can beat this time? Stop by booth #418 and find out. Digimarc will also demonstrate the company's mobile payment software development kit (SDK) for securely exchanging payment information between retailers and shoppers and verifying customer age. There will be a private showing of upcoming innovations for select retailers.
