NSTAR Chooses MDSI's Advantex r7; Solution to Improve
Enterprise Field Service Efficiency and Performance

RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - March 8, 2005) - MDSI Mobile
Data Solutions Inc. (TSX:MMD)(NASDAQ:MDSI)

NSTAR, the largest investor-owned electric and gas utility in
Massachusetts, has selected MDSI Mobile Data Solutions' Advantex r7
software to manage service, meter, emergency and customer service work
for its gas operations.

For NSTAR Gas Operations, Advantex will transform largely paper-based
processes for scheduling, assigning, dispatching, and managing field
work into a fully automated, wirelessly enabled, real-time system. The
Advantex enterprise-wide mobile workforce management solution will let
all NSTAR users become more productive.

According to Jim Devereaux, NSTAR's Director of Gas Service, "Our goal
is to increase customer satisfaction and productivity. We expect to be
able to complete more jobs in a day, assign work more efficiently,
reduce unproductive travel time, and exchange real time updates between
the field, dispatchers and call center representatives. Our familiarity
with MDSI, coupled with feedback from other Advantex users, makes us

efficiently and will be part of an enterprise solution that also manages
customer service, asset and parts information, It will be used in
conjunction with Verizon's 1xRTT network and Panasonic rugged mobile


NSTAR transmits and delivers electricity and natural gas to 1.4 million
customers in Eastern and Central Massachusetts, including over one
million electric customers in 81 communities and nearly 300,000 gas
customers in 51 communities.
