NSTU Holds 95th Annual Council

HALIFAX, NS--(Marketwired - April 29, 2016) - The Nova Scotia Teachers Union is holding its 95th Annual Council starting this evening through to Sunday, May 1 at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax.

Approximately 400 voting delegates, alternate delegates, visitors and guests will attend Council sessions, which start at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

On Saturday, April 30 Mark Ramsankar, Alberta Teachers' Association president and Canadian Teachers' Federation vice president, will address delegates.

Saturday sessions are scheduled from 8:50 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Sunday sessions begin at 9:00 a.m. to conclude by approximately 12:00 p.m.

Note to editors/reporters:

  1. As is customary, Council sessions will be closed to non-NSTU members for the presentation of the NSTU financial package and discussion of costed and economic welfare resolutions. The adoption of the budget will take place during a closed session starting on Sunday, May 1 at 9:30 a.m.
