Nucleus Medical Media Reaches 200 Million Views on YouTube

Hospitals Use Nucleus's 3D Animations to Boost Traffic, Engagement on Their Websites

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - March 12, 2015) - Nucleus Medical Media, a leading creator of medical animations and illustrations for healthcare marketing, recently surpassed 200 million combined views on its YouTube channel. At the time of publication, the Nucleus YouTube channel was ranked #1,622 for total views, out of YouTube's 1 billion users.

The Nucleus YouTube channel currently features 370 health animations, including childbirth, oncology, cardiology, and other popular health topics. The channel has been a success since going live in 2007, and has recently reached several other notable milestones. In January 2014 Nucleus was awarded Google's Silver Play Button after reaching 100 thousand YouTube subscribers. Less than a year later the channel had doubled that number to 200 thousand subscribers.

Similar YouTube channels don't experience viewership on the same scale as Nucleus. For example, the Mayo Clinic's YouTube channel has 19.5 million total views, the CDC has 41 million views, and Dr. Oz has 9.6 million views. Nucleus attributes their YouTube channel's success to the quality of the content, the popularity of 3D animation, and the weekly release schedule of new videos.

"Nucleus creates its animations in much the same way a Hollywood studio creates an animated feature film," said Nucleus CEO and Co-founder Ron Collins. "Our secret to success is our team: the medical animators make sure the animations are cinematically engaging, while the writers, editors, and reviewers make sure the videos are accurate." Each animation goes through a rigorous, multi-step process before it is published. This process includes content research, script writing, script editing, 3D modeling, storyboard creation, voice acting, animation, sound editing, and video post-production, with reviews between each step.

Hospitals, health systems, and doctors have also found the animations can boost traffic and engagement to their websites and social media.

"Our doctors appreciate having reliable multimedia they can share with their patients to educate them about procedures," said Alyssa Young, Senior Web Producer for Marketing & Public Affairs at Lehigh Valley Health Network. "They're glad they can refer patients to our website to view Nucleus animations, because they do such a good job of showing what to expect." Lehigh Valley Health Network used a Nucleus animation in their recent Marfan Syndrome patient video.

Nucleus would like to thank its dedicated following of students, patients, and learners who continue to support the Nucleus YouTube channel.
