Nuix and Proofpoint Align to Accelerate Migrating Data From Legacy Archives to the Cloud

Faster Access to Data for Compliance, Legal and Governance Initiatives

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 10, 2013) -

  • EDITOR'S NOTE: Nuix and Proofpoint are both attending the 2013 Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) from July 7-11 in Houston.

Proofpoint, Inc., (NASDAQ: PFPT), a leading security-as-a-service provider, and Nuix, a leading provider of eDiscovery, electronic investigation and information governance software, today announced a strategic relationship that help enterprises migrate valuable and legally required data to Proofpoint's cloud-based Enterprise Archive from legacy archives using Nuix's migration technology, a process that is many times faster than competing solutions.

Whereas most migration solutions extract data through a single connection to an archive's application programming interface (API), Nuix's "intelligent migration" technology creates multiple direct connections to the data in place and in its native format, eliminating the largest bottleneck that companies experience when moving large amounts of data. The court- and compliance-tested Nuix engine can extract data from EMC EmailXtender, EMC SourceOne, HP Autonomy EAS and Symantec Enterprise Vault archives, and EMC Centera compliance storage systems, even if their indexes are corrupt.

Nuix's migration process also identifies redundant, obsolete, trivial, and high-risk data in legacy systems. By leaving behind data with no business value, customers can further speed up the process of migrating to Proofpoint Enterprise Archive and minimize storage volumes and downstream eDiscovery costs.

"Our customers are looking to move to the Cloud, and finding a cost effective, practical and defensible answer of what to do with the legacy archive can be an obstacle"," said Darren Lee, vice president of governance and archiving at Proofpoint. "Nuix's intelligent migration technology gives them the ability to immediately access and rapidly process archived data, in virtually any format."

After migration, Proofpoint Enterprise Archive™, which was recognized as a leader in the December 2012 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Information Archiving, provides secure, rapid access to information for eDiscovery, and regulatory compliance, and end user historical content. It features:

  • An Innovative, grid-based storage architecture that delivers information in seconds -- uniquely backed by a search performance guarantee;
  • DoubleBlind™ Key Architecture that ensures customers exclusively maintain encryption keys, and remain in control over data access decisions;
  • Proofpoint's Content Collection, which extends the legal hold capability by providing automatic collection of files and documents from across the organization;
  • Lower cost than on-premise systems, including predictable, flat-fee pricing and storage.

"Extracting data with Nuix and migrating it to Proofpoint Enterprise Archive turns legacy archives from a black hole full of unknown risks to a valuable business resource for compliance, eDiscovery, and information governance," said Eddie Sheehy, CEO of Nuix.
