Nutrients for Life Foundation Canada Presents Award at Canada-Wide Science Festival

MONTREAL, QC--(Marketwired - May 20, 2016) - Nutrients for Life Foundation Canada is proud to present the Nutrients for Life Foundation Award to Rémie Cherepak for an outstanding junior project related to fertilizers, plants, and soil science at the Canada-Wide Science Festival.

The Nutrients for Life Foundation Award, consisting of a certificate and $500 cash prize, fosters youth's interest in improving environmental impacts through innovative methods.

"All my life, I've had a strong bond with nature and have been experiencing the outdoors with my family," said Rémie. "Because of my love for the outdoors, I was inspired to create my science project "Would you eat these peas?" to test if vehicle fluids we emit in everyday life have an impact on the environment."

The Canada-Wide Science Festival creates an unforgettable science experience for thousands of youth each year, showcasing the work of Canada's top 500 young scientists and inspiring countless visitors to explore experiences in science and innovation. As Canada seeks to fulfil its Innovation Agenda, stimulating and encouraging young Canadians in the sciences becomes crucial.

"The Canada-Wide Science Festival inspires youth on a path from curiosity to discovery," said Brad McCabe, Executive Director of Youth Science Canada. "Partners such as Nutrients for Life Foundation Canada are integral in our ability to aid youth in identifying issues of concern to them and building a solution to that issue in a science project. This award acknowledges the hard work of Canada's young scientists in the field of soil science. The foundation's delivery of hands-on programming within the festival will also give students the opportunity to participate in soil science activities, which they may not have been previously exposed."

Nutrients for Life Foundation Canada is committed to encouraging the next generation of environmental stewards. By working with partners, such as the Canada-Wide Science Festival, Nutrients for Life Foundation Canada is reaching more students and encouraging science-based education on soil and the environment.
