NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - March 31, 2011) - Dr. Thomas Tooma, Medical Director of NVISION Laser Eye Centers, announced today that NVISION Laser Eye Centers is participating in two outreach programs in April to help the people of Japan and one very special NVISION employee's mother who is a victim of the earthquake.
"We have seen the heartbreaking tragedy of the earthquake and tsunami that took place on March 11 in Japan. Our first project is a part of a worldwide effort to raise money for the Red Cross's "Hands for Japan" program in which contributions will be matched up to $500,000. The second project hits close to home as it will benefit Aiko Wagatsuma, the mother of Junko Sheng, an NVISION employee of 12 years. Wagatsuma is a victim of the tragedy who is unable to return to her home in the Miyagi region where the earthquake and tsunami hit," said Tooma.
NVISION is also offering discounts throughout the month of April to LASIK patients who contribute to the worldwide fundraiser, expected to raise $1 million within the next fourteen days. For a $25 donation to the fund, NVISION will provide a $100 discount on LASIK. A $50 donation will yield a $150 discount towards the LASIK procedure. To provide help and support for Junko Sheng's mother, employees from NVISION Eye Centers' nine locations throughout Southern California will be gathering on April 13 at NVISION's Newport Beach headquarters to put together a care package that will be sent to Aiko in Japan.
