NW Wine Company Purchases Land in Dundee

Future Home for New Estate Vineyard, Winery and Tasting Room

MCMINNVILLE, OR--(Marketwire - April 4, 2011) - NW Wine Company has purchased 35 acres from adjacent properties in Dundee at Highway 99W and Niederberger Road. The site will accommodate the future home of NW Wine Company (NWWC), a custom wine-growing operation specializing in all aspects of wine-growing from vine to bottle. "Our new location enables us to have an estate vineyard, highly specialized winery, and on-site tasting room," states owner Laurent Montalieu.

NWWC has grown from 19,000 to 120,000 cases since 2003 when it was founded in partnership with John Niemeyer and Jeff Meader of Oregon Wine Services (OWS), Laurent Montalieu, and Danielle Andrus Montalieu, and offering involvement in vineyard management, custom wine production, and private label brand development. John Niemeyer comments, "Moving NW Wine Company from OWS to Dundee allows both companies to expand efficiently for the betterment of both businesses."

With architect Richard Brown, and Perlo Construction as the general contractor for the 45,000 square foot winery, NWWC expects to pour the foundation mid-April and be fully operational for the 2011 harvest. The estate tasting room will open September 1 and the planting of a 15-acre vineyard will follow. Having managed the construction and design of four wineries, Montalieu comments: "Experience has taught me what is necessary to ensure the expression of each wine, and working with Richard again will make the process even easier." Brown also designed the Solena and Grand Cru Estates winery, a project in partnership with Steve and Marian Bailey.

The partnership between Niemeyer and the Montalieus also includes Hyland Estates, one of the oldest vineyard sites in the McMinnville AVA. Hyland's 260-plus acres include historic plantings originating from 1971 and its pedigree inspired NWWC to craft expressive wines for their new premier label: Hyland Estates to be released with the opening of the tasting room. The vineyard has been parceled into home sites developed with the gentlemen farmer in mind.

Through their different winery businesses, the Montalieus lease and manage vineyards in all six of the Willamette Valley AVAs. "The Dundee Hills have always held a special meaning to me, and it brings back fond memories to establish another vineyard here," states Danielle Andrus Montalieu who assisted her late father, Gary Andrus, when he started Archery Summit Winery.
