NWP Services Corporation Expands Support of the National Multi Housing Council's Multifamily Information and Transactions Standards (MITS) Initiative

Howard Behr, Director of NWP Implementations, Joins MITS Governance Committee

IRVINE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 30, 2006 -- NWP Services Corporation (NWP) today announced that it has expanded its support of the Multifamily Information and Transactions Standards (MITS) initiative supported by the National Multi Housing Council (NMHC) and has been accepted as a member of the MITS Governance Committee.

An active member and sponsor of the MITS project since 2005, Howard Behr, NWP's Director of Implementations, has been heavily involved in the MITS Resident Transactions Subcommittee and will now serve on the Governance Committee which effectively functions as the board of directors for MITS, providing feedback from the industry and driving the initiative for the creation of new standards and continued support of current standards.

The MITS initiative was formed by the National Multi Housing Council (NMHC) in 2002 to create an industry-wide initiative to establish data standards and extensible mark-up language (XML) architecture to enhance and support the development of systems solutions for the industry. MITS standards are freely available as an industry resource and the project is funded and sponsored by a broad group of industry firms and is supported by the National Multi Housing Council and national outreach partner, the National Apartment Association.

"We are very pleased about NWP's expanded leadership role in MITS, as we believe that the initiative is vital to making the industry more productive and efficient," said Howard Behr, NWP Director of Implementations. "This effort to establish standards for exchanging data throughout the industry is critical to NWP and its customers, as it helps property and portfolio managers stay focused on their core activities of attracting residents and maintaining resident satisfaction."

MITS provides multi-housing firms and solutions providers a standardized way to handle the automated exchange of data and transaction information. One such application of MITS standards -- Resident Transactions -- is in the area of resident billing and payment programs (for rent, utility, and other charges) implemented by apartment owners and managers and their third-party billing providers. MITS standards make it easier and more efficient for owners and managers to transmit and receive updated resident data from their billing provider ensuring resident billing and cost recovery programs reach their maximum potential while at the same time eliminating administrative processes.
