NXP Semiconductors Awarded EDN's Innovation of the Year Award: Analog ICs

NXP's EM773 Energy Metering IC Recognized

EINDHOVEN, NETHERLANDS and SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - May 9, 2011) - NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI) announced today that its EM773 energy metering IC has been honored with EDN's Innovation of the Year award for Analog ICs recognizing innovation in the art and science of analog integrated circuits. According to EDN's Technical Editor, Paul Rako, NXP " a company that has used its technical prowess to combine the complex analog and digital electronics into one chip. They allow customers to perform sophisticated analog functions on a standards-based development platform."

  • The EDN Innovation Awards are prestigious within the electronics design community as winners are chosen by a jury of their peers. EDN's technical editors choose finalists from a large pool of nominees. Then, through a combination of reader and editorial balloting, determine the winners.
  • With the EM773, consumers and industrial users can monitor real-time energy consumption in devices ranging from smart plugs appliances and "green" electronics, to industrial sub-meters, and rack-mounted servers in data centers.
  • The EM773 energy metering IC, announced in October 2010, is the world's first 32-bit ARM™-based solution designed specifically for non-billing electricity metering applications.
  • Featuring a metrology engine with automatic single phase, power and energy measurement, the EM773 energy metering IC includes an API which vastly simplifies the design of non-billing metering applications. The NXP EM773 is built on an ARM Cortex™-M0 processor.
