NY Urologist Dr. J. Francois Eid Performs No-Touch Technique Penile Prosthesis Surgery With Record-Low Infection Rates

Advanced Urological Care's Dr. Eid Specializes in Penile Prosthesis Surgery With Remarkably Low Infection Rates With His Self-Developed No-Touch Technique

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jul 7, 2015) - Established by NY urologist Dr. J. Francois Eid, Advanced Urological Care is New York's leading urological care practice. Dr. Eid specializes in erectile dysfunction treatment -- primarily penile implant surgery. Infection after penile implant surgery is the most feared concern among potential patients, and Dr. Eid strives to have the lowest infection rate out of every penile implant surgeon in the world.

Dr. Eid developed the No-Touch Technique (NTT) in 2005. The technique allows insertion of a penile prosthesis into a patient without ever touching skin. The technique eliminates any contact between the prosthesis and the skin -- either direct or indirect, such via surgical instruments or gloves -- and proves to reduce the incidence of contamination of the device with skin flora responsible for infection.

Dr. Eid has performed penile implant surgeries since 1988, and has consistently lessened his penile implant infection rate ever since. To date, he has performed more than 6000 penile implant surgeries. Out of more than 2660 surgeries performed with the NTT, the infection rate is 0.4 percent -- a world record.

Studies reveal that regardless of how much a patient's skin is prepped before surgery, bacteria remains present on the skin. Even the best antiseptics -- such as alcohol and chlorhexidine -- only decrease the bacteria count. The current national infection rate for penile implants performed without the NTT is between two and five percent, and is believed to be underreported. Dr. Eid's infection rate -- at 0.4 percent -- is much lower than typical.

"Instead of focusing all efforts on fighting possible contamination and infection, it is more important that we prevent it in the first place," explains Dr. Eid. "The No-Touch Technique prevents contamination of the implant from the skin, and reduces the likelihood of a patient developing an infection."

Dr. Eid further explains that if infection does happen, complete removal of the prosthesis is required. The process is not only painful and stressful for the patient, but always results in a permanently scarred penis, decreasing size and making re-implantation extremely difficult.

Dr. Eid treats erectile and sexual dysfunction in men and is internationally-recognized for his NTT penile implant method. Dr. Eid shares his office with urologist Dr. Seth Cohen -- board-certified, highly-awarded male and female sexual dysfunction specialist.
