Oakville-Based CPA Student Makes National Honour Roll

36 Other Local Students Pass Challenging Professional Entry Exam

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 29, 2013) - Kylyn Athey, a Chartered Professional Accounting student living in Mississauga and working in Oakville, was one of just 20 Ontario students to make the prestigious Honour Roll for top marks on this year's Canada-wide Uniform Evaluation (UFE).

The UFE, written in September, is a national three-day evaluation that assesses competencies including essential knowledge, professional judgment, ethics and the ability to communicate. The UFE is an important component of the CPA qualification program, which includes prescribed education, practical experience and examination requirements. Only those who complete this entire program successfully are entitled to use the internationally recognized designation of Chartered Professional Accountant, a profession known for superior financial expertise, strategic thinking, business insight and leadership.

Raised in Mississauga, Ms. Athey has a Masters of Management & Professional Accounting from the University of Toronto's Erindale Campus and currently articles at PwC LLP in Oakville.

On making the Honour Roll, Ms. Athey said: "Writing the UFE was probably the most stressful three days of my life. But, looking back, in retrospect, it was both challenging and rewarding. It showed me what I was capable of and I learned so much about myself and, of course, accounting."

In total, Ontario had 1,201 of the country's 3,032 successful UFE writers and captured 20 of 54 National Honour roll spots. Toronto's Nicholas Tsai captured the Canada Gold Medal as the top writer of the Uniform Evaluation in the country.
